Visa, SF Express Bring Tap-to-Pay to Hong Kong Doorsteps

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-13 · Last active 2026-08-13

Courier payments in Hong Kong have often required cash, bank transfers or conventional terminals, leaving doorstep collection and delivery less digitized than retail checkout. Visa and SF Express Hong Kong are extending contactless acceptance to couriers’ smart handheld devices, turning each delivery interaction into a mobile payment point. The model matters because it can reduce cash handling, speed settlement and strengthen payment security across a high-frequency logistics channel.

Visa and SF Express announced the partnership on Aug. 13, 2026. Customers can tap a Visa contactless card or compatible payment device on a courier’s smart handheld terminal when sending or receiving parcels, covering delivery fees and cash-on-delivery charges at the doorstep. The companies did not disclose the investment value, the number of devices in the initial rollout or transaction targets, while describing the service as a Hong Kong door-to-door deployment.
