Anthropic CFO Plays Down AI Job-Replacement Fears, Sees White-Collar Workers Shifting to Oversight and Strategy

1 reports · First detected 2026-05-14 · Last active 2026-05-14

Generative AI is moving beyond an assistive role to execute knowledge-work processes, deepening concerns that it could replace white-collar jobs. Anthropic Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao said the focus should not be on cutting headcount, but on shifting employees toward reviewing AI output, handling exceptions and setting strategy, reshaping how companies deploy and manage talent.

As of July 20, 2026, Rao said Anthropic’s Claude could perform more than 90% of coding and handle over 90% of the financial reporting process. Anthropic therefore views AI as a tool for increasing talent productivity and density, rather than simply replacing employees. His remarks did not involve any transaction value or new investment.
