Temasek Discloses OpenAI, Anthropic Stakes and Targets 15% AI Allocation
Sovereign wealth funds worldwide have accelerated the reallocation of assets toward artificial intelligence and the technology sector in recent years. Singapore's Temasek has adjusted its investment strategy after writing down its previous investment in cryptocurrency exchange FTX. Seeking steady growth amid sweeping technological change, Temasek has turned its attention to generative AI, making its asset-allocation moves a key indicator of global technology investment and the transformation of sovereign funds.
Temasek disclosed for the first time in its latest annual audited report, released in July 2026, that its portfolio directly holds stakes in AI heavyweights OpenAI and Anthropic. Over the next five years, by 2031, Temasek plans to raise the share of AI-related assets in its portfolio sharply from 6% to 15%. It is also actively encouraging its portfolio companies to adopt AI technology, while making clear that it will stay out of cryptocurrency for now.
