Ennostar, AUO and Tyntek to Showcase Micro LED Optical Communications Technology for AI Data Centers
As AI models grow and computing density rises, high-speed connections within data-center racks face bandwidth, power-consumption and heat-dissipation constraints associated with copper cables, driving a shift from copper to optical links. Ennostar Photonics is combining Micro LED light sources with AUO’s co-packaged optics, or CPO, modules and Tyntek’s Micro PD technology, targeting short-distance transmission of less than 10 meters.
Ennostar announced on March 31, 2026, that the three companies would showcase their work at Touch Taiwan 2026 from April 8 to 10. The Micro LED can operate at 125 degrees Celsius, has a lifespan of 30,000 hours and consumes less than 1 pJ/bit. The companies will also exhibit VCSEL solutions for distances of less than 100 meters and CW-DFB solutions for distances of less than 2,000 meters. They did not disclose the amount invested in the collaboration.
