Taiwan’s TDCC Deepens U.S. Settlement and Data Ties
Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) is a key part of Taiwan’s infrastructure for the custody and settlement of securities bought through sub-brokerage accounts. Taiwanese investors’ sub-brokerage turnover exceeded NT$7 trillion in 2024. By April 2025, TDCC was working with 15 brokerages and held more than NT$120 billion of overseas securities, underscoring the need for closer links with U.S. post-trade systems as demand for American shares grows.
TDCC recently sent a delegation to the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq to discuss longer U.S. trading hours, T+1 settlement and digital corporate-action data. The U.S. moved to T+1 on May 28, 2024, while DTCC’s National Securities Clearing Corporation began 24x5 clearing on June 29, 2026, from 8 p.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Friday Eastern Time. The parties plan standardized connectivity and structured-data exchanges to streamline custody, settlement and asset servicing for Taiwan’s sub-brokerage market.
