AI Data-Center Demand Drives Optical Transceiver Boom, Sending AAOI Up 90% in Two Days
AI data centers require high-speed fiber links to connect large numbers of servers used for training and running large models, fueling upgrades to 800G optical transceivers. Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI), a U.S. supplier of fiber-optic networking products, has consequently drawn market attention, with its revenue outlook seen as a bellwether for AI infrastructure spending.
AAOI shares gained more than 90% over the two most recent trading sessions cited in the reports, including a rise of more than 24% in the latest session. The company expects demand for its 800G products to boost future revenue. Over the same period, Lumentum (LITE) was added to the Nasdaq-100, though the reports provided no exact trading dates, order values or incremental revenue figures.
