Nacha Raises Same Day ACH Per-Payment Limit to $10 Million
Nacha administers the rules for the U.S. Automated Clearing House electronic payments network, while Same Day ACH allows financial institutions to clear payments within the same business day. As corporate treasury operations accelerate, the current $1 million per-payment cap has increasingly constrained large transactions. Raising the limit could support uses including corporate invoices, tax payments and insurance claims.
Nacha announced that the Same Day ACH per-payment limit will rise from $1 million to $10 million starting in September 2027, increasing the cap tenfold. The change will allow businesses to process more high-value payments through the existing ACH system, responding to market demand for faster transfers of larger sums.
