Spotify Unveils Xirp to Give AI Coding Tools Enterprise Context

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-13 · Last active 2026-08-13

Companies adopting generative AI for software development face a persistent problem: coding models often lack knowledge of internal service dependencies, engineering standards and team ownership. Spotify built Xirp to supply that missing enterprise context, aiming to make AI-generated code changes more accurate and better aligned with production systems rather than relying only on information available in a repository.

Spotify has released Xirp in beta for use with AI tools including Anthropic’s Claude Code, OpenAI’s Codex and Google’s Gemini. The development environment integrates with Spotify Portal to retrieve context about the company’s internal service architecture and organizational structure before models assist engineers with code changes. Spotify has not disclosed a general-availability date or quantitative performance results for the beta.
