The Clearing House Pushes RTP Network Into International Real-Time Payments
The Clearing House, which is owned by a consortium of banks, is working to extend its RTP network across borders. Traditional international transfers involve multiple intermediary banks, foreign-exchange processing and compliance checks, and can take as long as three days to complete. Adding real-time payment capabilities could help financial institutions shorten settlement times and compete with FedNow, Visa and digital-asset providers.
The Clearing House plans to add support for international real-time payments to the RTP network in the coming months, enabling financial institutions and consumers to process cross-border transactions more quickly. At the time of the report, it had not announced an exact launch date, partner markets, transaction values or fee structure. The implementation timeline remains undisclosed.

The history behind this eventRTP Network Tops 2 Million Daily Transactions for First Time
The Clearing House's RTP network enables financial institutions to clear and post payments instantly around the clock. Record transaction volumes show real-time payments gaining ground in consumer and business use cases. They also reflect growing corporate demand for flexible liquidity management, real-time budget visibility and improved cash flow.
TCH said the RTP network processed 2.05 million payments on February 13, surpassing 2 million in a single day for the first time and setting a system record. The total was 50,000 transactions above the milestone. TCH attributed the growth to rising adoption of instant payments by consumers and businesses, along with demand for immediate access to funds and tighter budget control.
