Provision Information Launches FHIR Smart Healthcare Appliance, with Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital First to Adopt
Healthcare institutions are accelerating the exchange of medical records and health data across organizations, making FHIR an important standard. That growth has also heightened security risks involving sensitive data transmission, digital signatures and key management. Financial cybersecurity provider Provision Information and Sita Information have therefore introduced financial-grade hardware security modules, or HSMs, into healthcare settings to support domestically developed cybersecurity and digital resilience.
Provision Information and Sita Information recently launched the “FHIR Smart Healthcare Appliance,” with Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital becoming the first adopter. The system is designed to strengthen the security of FHIR healthcare data exchanges and protect cryptographic keys. Available information does not disclose the contract or deployment date, procurement value, number of devices or performance data. The hospital has yet to publish results from its use of the system.
