Forbes Reassesses SBF Portfolio: Anthropic and Cursor Bets Could Be Worth $100 Billion
FTX, founded by Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), went bankrupt in November 2022, revealing the misappropriation of more than $8 billion in customer funds. He was sentenced to 25 years in prison on March 28, 2024. The controversy is that some of those funds were invested early in prominent AI and crypto companies. Any returns belong to the bankruptcy estate and its creditors and cannot simply be treated as SBF's personal wealth.
Forbes estimated on May 5, 2026, that the FTX bankruptcy estate's core holdings in Anthropic, Cursor, SpaceX, Robinhood and Solana could be worth about $100 billion in total had they not been sold. Its $500 million investment in Anthropic could be worth as much as $80 billion, while a $200,000 investment in Cursor could be worth about $3 billion and nearly 60 million SOL about $5 billion.
