Ripple, Coincheck Expand Asia Digital Asset Custody Infrastructure

1 reports · First detected 2026-09-01 · Last active 2026-09-01

Asia-Pacific has become the fastest-growing region for onchain crypto activity, with the value received rising 69% year on year, according to Chainalysis’ 2025 global adoption index. Regulatory changes are also drawing traditional financial institutions closer to digital assets. Japan’s parliament passed revisions in July 2026 that classify crypto assets as financial assets under the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, increasing demand for secure, compliant and scalable custody infrastructure.

Ripple and SettleMint announced on Sept. 1 that they would integrate Ripple Custody with SettleMint’s Digital Asset Lifecycle Platform, giving Asia-Pacific financial institutions a unified system to custody, issue and manage tokenized assets. On Aug. 31, Coincheck Group unveiled a separate partnership with DFNS to develop institutional wallet technology and custody services in Japan. DFNS’s platform supports more than 100 blockchain networks and includes transaction processing, workflow orchestration, governance and compliance controls. Neither partnership disclosed a transaction value or firm launch date.
