Investors Step Up Bets on AI Agent Economy as Sphinx Labs Raises Seed Round

1 reports · First detected 2026-03-03 · Last active 2026-03-03

AI agents are evolving from tools that perform isolated automated tasks into “digital employees” capable of continuously operating within existing financial and enterprise systems. Financial compliance has long relied on analysts to retrieve records and assess cases individually, and upgrades to software and data platforms have yet to eliminate the labor bottleneck. Venture capital is therefore focusing on agent technology that can improve efficiency while maintaining risk controls and auditability.

PYMNTS reported on March 2, 2026, that Sphinx Labs had raised $7.1 million in a seed round led by Cherry Ventures, with participation from Y Combinator, Rebel Fund, Deel Ventures and Singularity Capital. Its agents review cases according to company policies. Some deployments have automated more than 92% of compliance work while identifying up to 17% more true-positive cases.
