Google DeepMind Partners With A24 in Hollywood AI Film Push
A24 is a US independent film studio that has built an auteur-driven brand with works including “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” while Google DeepMind leads Google's frontier AI research. Their alliance marks a deeper push by an AI company beyond general-purpose models and into film production and distribution. It has also renewed scrutiny of copyright, creative ethics and protections for film and television workers.
Google DeepMind announced its first research collaboration with A24 on June 22, 2026, while Google invested about $75 million in the studio. Under the multiyear, nonexclusive arrangement, the companies will jointly test and develop AI tools and workflows for film production and distribution. Google will not gain access to A24's film and television library, but the announcement has raised concerns among filmmakers and fans about job displacement and the licensing of creative works.
