Anthropic Launches Claude for Legal in Partnership With Data Giants
Legal work relies heavily on case law, contracts and institutional data, leaving general-purpose generative AI prone to inaccurate citations when it lacks authoritative sources. On February 24, 2026, LexisNexis integrated Anthropic’s legal plugins into Lexis+ with Protégé, supporting verifiable results with 200 billion legal documents and 4 million new records added daily.
Anthropic launched Claude for Legal on May 12, 2026, adding more than 20 MCP connectors and 12 plugins spanning contracts, litigation and compliance. Thomson Reuters connected CoCounsel Legal and Westlaw, while LexisNexis announced the following day that it was integrating the plugins. Financial terms of the partnerships were not disclosed.
