Bitcoin Gets Quantum-Safe Recovery Tool, but Satoshi’s 1.1 Million Coins Cannot Benefit

1 reports · First detected 2026-07-19 · Last active 2026-07-19

Rapid advances in quantum computing pose a potential threat to the asymmetric cryptography currently used by Bitcoin, raising the prospect that some early or unupgraded holdings could be frozen as a protective measure. Safely recovering and securing these assets is critical not only to holders’ interests but also to preserving network security and market confidence as the blockchain community enters the quantum era.

Blockchain startup Project Eleven launched a new zero-knowledge-proof-based system in July 2026. It is designed to help users recover Bitcoin frozen as a safeguard against quantum-computing threats by drawing on the quantum-resistant properties of one-way hashing algorithms. However, because Satoshi Nakamoto’s early wallet addresses lack seed-key information, the 1.1 million Bitcoin they hold cannot be recovered through the system.
