2 reports · First detected 2026-03-22 · Last active 2026-03-22

Taiwan's three offshore financial hubs, collectively known as the “3O,” comprise offshore banking units (OBUs), offshore securities units (OSUs) and offshore insurance units (OIUs). They are key platforms through which Taiwanese financial institutions serve offshore clients and conduct foreign-currency business. Their earnings reflect demand for cross-border financial services and the effectiveness of capital deployment.

Financial Supervisory Commission data showed that the three offshore financial hubs generated combined pretax profit of $347 million in January 2026, up more than 40% from a year earlier. OBU pretax profit reached NT$10.81 billion, the highest for the same period in nearly five years, mainly driven by increases in interest income from lending and net investment income.
