Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan Privately Meets Taiwan Supply Chain Ahead of COMPUTEX 2026, Focuses on AI Strategy

Intel is restructuring and transforming its foundry business, and CEO Lip-Bu Tan’s Taiwan visit puts the company’s simultaneously competitive and collaborative relationship with TSMC in focus. It also has implications for the server strategies of Hon Hai and Taiwan’s other major electronics manufacturers. As NVIDIA and AMD expand their AI accelerator portfolios, Intel is betting that agentic AI will return the CPU to the center of computing. No party has disclosed the value of any cooperation.

Tan reportedly arrived in Taiwan over the weekend ahead of COMPUTEX, which runs from June 2 to 5, 2026. He was expected to meet senior executives from TSMC and Taiwan’s five major electronics manufacturers to coordinate AI infrastructure capacity for the coming years. Intel also unveiled Xeon 6+ and disclosed a rack-system roadmap with Hon Hai, saying yields for its Intel 18A process had reached internal targets. It did not disclose a percentage or any new investment amount.
