AI Analysis Finds Financial Advisers Dominate Client Conversations

1 reports · First detected 2026-09-02 · Last active 2026-09-02

Financial advisers rely on more than investment, retirement and tax expertise: understanding a client’s goals, risk tolerance and family circumstances requires careful listening. Advisers often rate themselves highly on that skill, but conversation patterns have traditionally been difficult to assess objectively. AI meeting-recording systems are beginning to change that by turning routine consultations into measurable data on speaking time and client engagement.

Jump, a developer of AI tools for financial advisers, analyzed nearly 12,000 meetings between advisers and clients. It found advisers spoke more than their clients in 84% of the conversations, challenging the profession’s perception that it listens effectively. The findings also point to a broader use for AI beyond transcription and note-taking: quantifying communication habits so advisers can refine their questions, leave clients more room to speak and improve the quality of consultations.
