Bitcoin Emerges as Key Gauge of Geopolitical Risk and Liquidity
Bitcoin trades around the clock and has a relatively fixed supply mechanism, allowing its price to respond quickly to shifts in dollar liquidity and investor risk appetite. When geopolitical conflicts fuel demand for safe-haven assets, liquidity operations by the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury can influence cryptocurrency prices through capital flows. That has made Bitcoin an important gauge of stress in global markets.
U.S. technical analyst Joe Duarte said the Federal Reserve and U.S. Treasury quietly injected about $240 billion of liquidity into the financial system in mid-April. Bitcoin is more sensitive to fresh liquidity than traditional assets such as stocks and bonds, and its recent performance reflects the tug-of-war between geopolitical risk and policy-driven liquidity support.
