Google Opens First Overseas Store in Tokyo’s Omotesando

Google has historically sold Pixel phones and other hardware in Japan largely through carriers, electronics retailers and its online store, while Apple has long used physical stores to showcase products and support customers. Google Store Omotesando, the company’s first directly operated outlet outside the United States and its 11th worldwide, marks a shift toward hands-on retail. The move also gives Google a high-profile venue to demonstrate how Gemini and other AI services work across its devices in one of its strongest smartphone markets.

Google opened the store on Aug. 13, 2026, on the first floor of Tokyu Plaza Omotesando “Omokado” in Tokyo. Billed as its largest location globally, the flagship features an AI photo booth, an immersive experience powered by Google DeepMind’s Genie 3 world model, and demonstrations linking Pixel hardware with Gemini. Customers can also buy devices, collect online orders, attend workshops, receive setup help and obtain on-site Pixel repairs, broadening the outlet’s role beyond sales to service and user engagement.
