Anthropic Alum’s AI Startup Mirendil Raises $200 Million, Reaches Unicorn Valuation

1 reports · First detected 2026-06-25 · Last active 2026-06-25

Founded by a former Anthropic researcher, Mirendil is developing “recursive self-improving models” that allow AI systems to autonomously rewrite, test and upgrade their capabilities, shortening iteration cycles for specialized models. If viable, the technology could accelerate research in medicine and materials science, but it also raises risks involving model validation, safety and governance.

Mirendil recently completed a $200 million seed funding round at a $1 billion valuation, reaching unicorn status at an early stage. The company will invest the funds in developing “self-upgrading” models. As of July 20, 2026, the reports provided did not specify the exact closing date, lead investor or full list of investors.
