Karpathy Unveils Dobby AI Home Agent System
Andrej Karpathy, a former OpenAI co-founder and Tesla AI chief who founded Eureka Labs, built “Dobby the Elf Claw,” a natural-language interface that integrates lighting, air conditioning, curtains, pool systems and surveillance previously managed through six separate apps. The project shows how AI agents are moving beyond answering questions to autonomously operating software and connected devices.
Karpathy unveiled Dobby on the “No Priors” podcast in March 2026. Users can issue commands through WhatsApp, while the system can proactively send camera footage after detecting a FedEx vehicle. On March 6, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang delivered the first DGX Station powered by a GB300, featuring 748GB of memory and up to 20 petaflops of computing power. The value of the gift was not disclosed.
