Multicoin Capital Builds Significant ZEC Position as California’s AB 1052 Fuels Privacy-Coin Demand
Zcash (ZEC) offers optional transaction privacy and censorship resistance, and is increasingly viewed as a tool for financial self-protection as governments step up efforts to track, freeze or seize digital assets. California’s proposed AB 1052 has heightened concerns about government action against crypto assets, bringing demand for privacy coins and their regulatory risks back into focus.
Tushar Jain, co-founder of Multicoin Capital, which manages about $2.7 billion, said the firm had built a significant ZEC position since February and viewed AB 1052 as a key catalyst. ZEC recently gained about 70% in one week and surged as much as 30% in a single day. Its liquidations were second only to Bitcoin’s, while some market forecasts said the token could reach $800.
