E.Sun Financial Plans NT$22 Billion Life Insurance Push, Expands Overseas

3 reports · First detected 2026-08-13 · Last active 2026-08-13

E.Sun Financial Holding is moving into life insurance by acquiring Mercuries Life Insurance and establishing E.Sun Life Insurance, broadening a franchise long anchored by banking and securities. The deal is strategically important because it could diversify group earnings and deepen customer relationships, while requiring disciplined capital allocation and the integration of insurance products, distribution channels and long-duration risk management.

At its first-half 2026 earnings briefing, E.Sun Financial reported after-tax profit of NT$21.43 billion, a record for the period. The group said it would inject NT$22 billion in stages to support the acquisition and development of E.Sun Life. E.Sun Bank is also accelerating expansion in North America and other overseas markets, while the holding company pledged to maintain a dividend yield above 4%.
