Corporate CFOs Turn to Real-Time Treasury Management to Unlock Idle Cash

1 reports · First detected 2026-03-30 · Last active 2026-03-30

Idle corporate cash often reflects funds trapped in accounts receivable, approvals, reconciliation and settlement processes rather than excessive account balances. Each day of delay increases short-term financing needs and reduces the accuracy of cash forecasts. PYMNTS Intelligence data show that 71% of CFOs improved their Time to Cash cycles, but nearly 30% reported no improvement or deterioration, underscoring the importance of real-time treasury management.

PYMNTS reported on March 29, 2026, that BMO had announced a partnership with CME Group and Google Cloud on March 24 to build a 24/7 tokenized cash platform using Google Cloud Universal Ledger. Subject to regulatory approval, the platform is expected to enable their shared institutional clients to conduct U.S. dollar conversions, margin transactions and settlements in the second half of 2026. The three companies did not disclose the investment amount.
