Chunghwa Telecom Wins Two Sustainable Finance Awards From The Asset
Sustainable finance allows companies to channel capital toward environmental and social benefits through instruments such as bonds. On August 4, 2025, Chunghwa Telecom issued a NT$3.5 billion, five-year sustainability bond with a 1.73% coupon. It was the first bond framework in Taiwan’s telecom sector to incorporate biodiversity, with proceeds allocated to environmental protection and social development, reflecting the growing role of ESG in financing and capital-allocation decisions.
Asian financial publication The Asset held its Triple A Sustainable Finance Awards ceremony in Hong Kong on March 31, 2026. Chunghwa Telecom won Best Issuer for Sustainable Finance and Best Sustainability Bond for the first time, becoming Taiwan’s only telecom operator to receive an award. The awards covered 13 countries across North Asia, ASEAN and South Asia, with Chunghwa Telecom winning in the North Asia–Taiwan category.
