F5 Acquires SurePath AI to Strengthen Enterprise AI Security and Governance

F5 has evolved from an application delivery controller vendor into a provider of multicloud application security and networking services. As enterprises rapidly adopt generative and agentic AI, unapproved “shadow AI,” data leaks and unauthorized actions have emerged as new risks. Founded in 2023, SurePath AI specializes in identifying AI usage and intent at the network layer, allowing F5 to extend its existing application and API control points into AI governance.

On June 22, 2026, F5 launched the F5 AI Security Platform and announced that it had completed its acquisition of SurePath AI. Financial terms were not disclosed. SurePath had about 19 employees and had previously raised approximately $6 million. Its technology uses network redirection and out-of-band analysis without requiring endpoint agents to detect shadow AI, classify workflow intent, and track AI agents' tool calls and connections to MCP servers.
