Alibaba Launches Enterprise AI Agent Service, Integrates Taobao and Alipay in AGI Push
Alibaba is shifting its focus from traditional e-commerce toward an artificial intelligence ecosystem built on Qwen, aiming to move beyond content generation to AGI capable of executing tasks autonomously. The group announced in February 2025 that it would invest at least 380 billion yuan (about $53 billion) in AI and cloud infrastructure over the next three years, providing the capital foundation for expanding its agent services.
On March 17, 2026, Alibaba launched Wukong, an enterprise-grade AI-native platform, in invitation-only beta testing. The platform can operate computers, browsers and cloud systems and connects with DingTalk, which serves more than 20 million businesses. On May 11, Qwen was connected to more than 4 billion products on Taobao and Tmall, enabling price comparisons, ordering and logistics management. Taobao, Alipay and Alibaba Cloud will also be integrated into Wukong gradually.
