Perplexity Sticks to Plan to Consider IPO in 2028
Perplexity, a startup using generative AI to reshape the search experience, is drawing attention over its IPO timeline as model developers including OpenAI and Anthropic could usher in a wave of listings. Once these companies go public, investors will scrutinize their pace of model improvement, operating costs and whether enterprise customers are switching to lower-priced alternatives.
Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas said the company would not accelerate its plans regardless of whether its publicly traded peers perform well or poorly, and would wait until 2028 to consider an IPO. Until then, Perplexity will prioritize building a financially healthy, high-growth business and views SpaceX as an important bellwether for the listing environment facing AI companies.
