Hong Kong Regulators Select 36 AI Use Cases for GenA.I. Sandbox++
Hong Kong’s financial regulators and Cyberport are expanding controlled testing of generative and agentic artificial intelligence through GenA.I. Sandbox++. The initiative gives banks, securities firms and technology providers a supervised setting to assess systems capable of planning and executing multi-step tasks. Such testing is increasingly important as financial institutions weigh productivity gains against concerns over data governance, model risk, accountability and regulatory compliance.
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Securities and Futures Commission and other organisers selected 36 use cases for the programme’s first cohort, involving 30 financial institutions and 27 technology partners. Trials are scheduled to begin later in 2026 on the Cyberport Artificial Intelligence Supercomputing Centre platform. The projects will test innovative AI applications under controlled conditions and examine whether they can support broader transformation across Hong Kong’s financial market.
