Hayes Says Fed Report May Expose Japan Yen Support, Adds Ether

1 reports · First detected 2026-08-03 · Last active 2026-08-03

The Federal Reserve’s weekly H.4.1 release provides a snapshot of its balance sheet and liquidity facilities, making it a closely watched gauge of dollar funding conditions. BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes says the report could expose a mechanism through which Japan pledges government bonds to obtain dollars and support the yen. The thesis matters to crypto investors because any expansion in global liquidity could ultimately bolster demand for risk assets, including Ether.

Hayes said on Aug. 3, 2026, that this week’s H.4.1 report, due Aug. 6, may reveal the yen-intervention channel he described. He expects the resulting liquidity to migrate into cryptocurrency markets and has backed that view with a fresh Ether purchase. On-chain records cited in the report show Hayes added about $2.5 million of ETH. The Fed release has yet to confirm whether its balance-sheet data support his interpretation of Japan’s operations.
