Global Smart-Glasses Shipments Jump 83% as AI Integration and Optical Shift Drive Growth
Smart glasses are evolving from smartphone accessories into wearables that can independently display information, capture images and support voice interactions. Counterpoint Research said advances in generative AI, lightweight designs and transparent-display technology are lowering barriers to adoption. Competition among brands is also expanding into content, services and local application ecosystems.
Counterpoint Research's latest report showed that global smart-glasses shipments rose 83% year on year in the first quarter of 2026, driven mainly by AR glasses and display-less models. Rokid, Meta, Alibaba and other companies are accelerating the integration of AI features and next-generation optical solutions to improve real-time interactions and broaden their market presence.
