AMD Seeks Up to $5 Billion in Bond Sale for AI Expansion

2 reports · First detected 2026-08-14 · Last active 2026-08-14

Advanced Micro Devices is stepping up investment in AI accelerators and data-center processors as it seeks to narrow Nvidia’s lead. Surging infrastructure spending by cloud providers has increased demand for chips used to train and run artificial-intelligence models, while also raising funding needs across research, supply chains and computing capacity. AMD’s planned debt sale underscores how the semiconductor industry’s AI race is increasingly being financed through capital markets.

AMD launched a four-part investment-grade bond offering on Aug. 13, 2026, seeking to raise about $4 billion to $5 billion. A deal at the top of that range would be the chipmaker’s largest bond sale on record. The proceeds are expected to support AI-related investment, data-center expansion and general corporate purposes as AMD builds capacity to meet strong demand for its processors and accelerators.
