Taiwan FSC Pushes Elder-Care Trusts as Assets Grow 43-Fold in a Decade
As Taiwan becomes a super-aged society, elder-care trusts allow trust companies to manage and disburse assets under contract to cover seniors’ living, medical and care expenses, reducing the risk of misappropriation or fraud. In recent years, the Financial Supervisory Commission has promoted cross-industry collaboration, service innovation and the use of digital technology through its Trust 2.0 initiative and trust business development strategy blueprint.
FSC data showed that, as of the end of 2025, 30 trust companies offered elder-care trust products, serving a cumulative 221,047 beneficiaries and holding about NT$184.4 billion in trust principal. The overall market grew 43-fold over the decade from the end of 2015, indicating continued growth in demand among older people and their families for trusts to manage assets set aside for elder care.
