British Business Bank Commits Record £100 Million to Apposite Healthtech Fund
British Business Bank, the UK government’s economic development bank, uses fund commitments to draw private capital into companies seeking to scale. The UK has a strong life sciences research base, but a shortage of later-stage financing can push promising businesses toward premature exits or expansion overseas. Apposite Capital’s new vehicle is designed to close that gap, helping health technology companies commercialise products, improve patient outcomes and build globally competitive businesses and skilled jobs in Britain.
On April 16, 2026, British Business Bank announced a £100 million cornerstone commitment to Apposite Healthcare Growth I, its largest fund commitment to date and its first with Apposite Capital. The fund has a £250 million fundraising target and will invest primarily in UK growth-stage companies spanning medical products, diagnostics, life sciences tools, digital health and pharmaceutical outsourcing services. The commitment is intended to give the vehicle enough scale to back businesses approaching a critical growth inflection point and attract additional institutional capital.
