China’s low-budget animated film Niu Lai became a viral sensation precisely because viewers mocked its crude production and absurd storytelling, turning ridicule and remixes into a broader online phenomenon. The attention quickly spilled into speculative trading on BNB Chain, where an unaffiliated token adopted the film’s name. The episode shows how internet memes can be financialized within hours, combining social-media momentum, get-rich-quick narratives and thin on-chain markets in which quoted valuations may bear little relation to the cash available for exits.

The Niu Lai memecoin initially approached a $30 million market capitalization before later reports put it at a record of about $65 million, with some early positions showing paper gains of as much as 1,700-fold. Liquidity was only about $1.98 million, leaving the token’s market value roughly 31 times the depth available in its pool. The coin has no disclosed connection to the film’s producers. That imbalance means concentrated selling could overwhelm available bids and trigger a sharp collapse even while the headline market capitalization remains elevated.
