RBC Capital Markets Moves AI From Tool to ‘Collaborator’
Royal Bank of Canada’s RBC Capital Markets is seeking to transform artificial intelligence from an experimental efficiency tool into an enterprise “collaborator” involved in research, decision-making and client service. Led by Bobby Grubert and supported by the Borealis AI research team and Aiden platform, the strategy is tied to the long-term competitiveness of the bank’s capital-markets business.
The latest plan calls for an investment of nearly $20 million in digital transformation, with generative AI to be integrated more deeply into RBC Capital Markets’ workflows and long-term strategy. Grubert has publicly described the shift in positioning. As of July 20, 2026, the reports provided did not specify a formal announcement date or a phased rollout schedule.
