OpenAI Adds Computer History to ChatGPT for Mac
OpenAI is extending ChatGPT’s memory beyond conversations to activity performed on a computer. Its optional Computer History feature records clicks and keystrokes across applications on a Mac, creating a timeline that ChatGPT and the coding agent Codex can use to understand working patterns. The feature is designed to help the tools resume tasks and suggest automations based on a user’s routine.
The company recently introduced Computer History in the ChatGPT desktop application for macOS. Recorded activity is organized into a chronological history and converted into data that can inform assistance from ChatGPT and Codex. Because the system can capture cross-app actions and keyboard input, adoption is likely to hinge on how clearly OpenAI manages consent, privacy controls and the handling of sensitive workplace or personal information.
