Apate.AI Raises $8.15 Million to Expand Anti-Fraud Agents
Global scam losses have reached an estimated $1.03 trillion as criminal networks industrialize fraud and increasingly deploy artificial intelligence. Apate.AI takes a proactive approach: its adversarial voice and text agents pose as potential victims, engaging scammers for as long as two hours to consume their resources and extract intelligence. The platform identifies phishing links, mule accounts and impersonation tactics, giving banks, telecom operators and governments information they can use to disrupt fraud before losses occur.
Apate.AI said on Sept. 1, 2026, that it closed an oversubscribed $8.15 million seed round led by Lobby Capital, with participation from OIF Ventures, Investible, Concept Ventures and Baobab Ventures. The company has conducted more than 2.5 million autonomous conversations with threat actors and generated over 250,000 intelligence artifacts. It reincorporated as a Delaware company effective Aug. 25 and will use the funding to expand in North America, deepen its product offering and open a London office next quarter, while keeping its technology and research team in Sydney.
