Google Integrates Alphabet Robotics Unit Intrinsic to Accelerate Physical AI
Intrinsic originated in Alphabet’s X lab and became an independent company in July 2021 after five and a half years of development. It focuses on industrial robotics software and the Flowstate development platform. Physical AI enables models to perceive and interact with real-world environments, making it a key battleground in smart manufacturing and automation. The integration strengthens Google’s capabilities from AI models through factory deployment as it competes with Nvidia and other rivals.
Google announced on February 25, 2026, that Intrinsic would be integrated into the company. The team will continue to operate independently while tapping Gemini models, Google Cloud infrastructure and Google DeepMind research resources to expand the building, deployment and management of robotics applications. Financial terms were not disclosed. Intrinsic announced a partnership with Hon Hai in October 2025 focused on general-purpose intelligent robots and factory automation.
