Taiwan Mobile, GMI Cloud to Build AI Computing Center in Taoyuan

Generative AI is driving corporate demand for computing power to train models, run inference and develop proprietary large language models, or LLMs. Taiwan Mobile is partnering with cloud services provider GMI Cloud to combine telecom infrastructure with GPU cloud capabilities. The companies aim to lower the barriers for businesses building their own computing capacity and bring Taiwan into the international AI computing supply market.

The companies announced plans to build a large-scale AI computing center in Taoyuan with capacity of up to 25 MW. It is expected to use NVIDIA’s top-of-the-line GB300 superchips and target a power usage effectiveness, or PUE, ratio below 1.2, with the goal of becoming Taiwan’s largest AI computing center. Reports have not yet disclosed the investment amount, construction start date or formal opening date.
