Public Companies’ Bitcoin Holdings Rise to 6% of Total Supply
Bitcoin’s total supply is capped at 21 million coins. Companies adding BTC to their treasuries signal that asset allocation is expanding beyond cash and bonds into crypto assets. If the accumulation model pioneered by Strategy continues to spread, it will reduce the supply available on the market and strengthen the link between corporate balance sheets and Bitcoin price volatility.
Fidelity’s latest report said that, as of 2026, the number of public companies holding more than 1,000 bitcoins had doubled from a year earlier. Together, they controlled nearly 6% of the total BTC supply, equivalent to about 1.26 million coins based on the 21 million cap. Strategy remained far ahead in its holdings, indicating that corporate Bitcoin accumulation is gradually becoming a mainstream treasury strategy.
