Nissan Technology Roadmap Cuts Model Lineup, Targets AI for 90% of Vehicle Lines

Nissan Motor is undertaking a long-term overhaul of its products and technology, streamlining its global lineup to reduce development and manufacturing complexity and improve cost efficiency. As competition intensifies in electric vehicles, autonomous driving and software-defined vehicles, the speed at which Nissan can bring AI into mass-produced vehicles will affect its product competitiveness and the pace of its operational recovery.

Nissan’s latest technology roadmap calls for reducing its global lineup to 45 models and introducing AI-related technology across 90% of its vehicle lines by fiscal 2030, including advanced driver-assistance and vehicle-control systems. Nissan will also work with Uber and Wayve to launch an autonomous-taxi trial in Tokyo by the end of 2026.
