Payfinia, MAP Bring Instant Payments to Credit Unions
US credit unions face growing pressure to match the real-time payment experiences offered by large banks and fintech platforms, but replacing core banking systems can be costly and disruptive. Payfinia and Member Access Processing (MAP), both credit union service organizations, aim to close that gap by embedding FedNow Service and RTP network transfers, digital wallets and disbursement tools into institutions’ existing digital channels.
Payfinia announced the partnership on July 14, 2026, giving MAP’s network of more than 100 credit unions access to its Instant Payment Xchange platform through a phased rollout. In an August 31 interview, Payfinia CEO Keith Riddle said credit unions funding at least 500 auto loans a month could save an estimated $179,000 to $314,000 annually by shifting transactions from checks, wires and ACH to instant disbursements.

The history behind this eventPatelco Invests in Payfinia CUSO to Expand Open Payments
Payfinia is an independent payments company built for community financial institutions. Its Credit Union Service Organization structure allows credit unions to own a stake in the infrastructure they use, rather than operate solely as vendor customers. The company’s Instant Payment Xchange, or IPX, connects institutions to the Federal Reserve’s FedNow Service and The Clearing House’s RTP network, helping smaller lenders offer always-on transfers and fraud controls comparable with larger banks.
Patelco Credit Union said on Aug. 4, 2026, that it made a strategic investment in Payfinia CUSO and formed a partnership to broaden open-payment and digital-finance services. Financial terms were not disclosed. Dublin, California-based Patelco has nearly $10 billion in assets and about 500,000 members. The companies already worked together on IPX: Patelco deployed the platform in under 80 days and had processed more than $5.4 million in instant-payment transactions by mid-July 2025.
