Tech Stock Rout Triggers Broad Crypto Market Crash

1 reports · First detected 2026-06-26 · Last active 2026-06-26

Cryptocurrencies and technology stocks are both highly volatile risk assets and often come under pressure together when investors seek safety. The latest decline stemmed from a global tech-stock selloff and a shift in capital toward AI-themed shares. Gabe Selby, head of research at CF Benchmarks, said selling by large bitcoin holders and weaker demand had made the market more vulnerable. The moves underscored that the crypto rout was not triggered solely by an internal industry event.

On June 26, Ether fell 5.6% over 24 hours to $1,555, XRP dropped 4.9% to $1.03 and dogecoin lost 3.8% to $0.074. Bitcoin briefly approached $58,000 before recovering to $59,888. Apple sank 6.1%, while South Korea’s Kospi plunged as much as 9% intraday. Bitcoin has downside support at $55,000 and would need to reclaim the $61,000–$62,000 range on the upside.
