Euro Stablecoins Dominate Non-Dollar Market, Visa Report Finds

1 reports · First detected 2026-03-27 · Last active 2026-03-27

Euro-denominated stablecoins allow businesses to make payments, transfer funds and manage treasury operations in euros on-chain. The EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) became fully applicable on December 30, 2024, providing a regulatory framework. Visa and Mastercard have also integrated Circle’s EURC into parts of their settlement and payment networks, providing an important foundation for wider adoption.

A Visa-commissioned report by Dune was released in March 2026. As of February, the supply of non-dollar stablecoins stood at about $1.2 billion, with euro-denominated tokens accounting for more than 80% of supply and 85% of transfer volume. Monthly transfers totaled about $10 billion. EURC supply surpassed $506 million on February 27, while the overall stablecoin market remained far larger at $300 billion–$316 billion.

Euro Stablecoin Market Cap Grows 128% Before MiCA Transition Ends2026-07-07 · 1 reports · similarity 0.81

The European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, or MiCA, standardizes issuance, reserve and regulatory requirements for stablecoins, with the transition period ending on July 1, 2026. Whether euro stablecoins can use the compliant framework to broaden adoption is a key gauge of Europe's efforts to reduce its crypto payments market's reliance on the U.S. dollar.

A new report from payment infrastructure company Decta said the combined market capitalization of eight MiCA-compliant euro stablecoins grew 128% in the year before the transition period ended, rising from about $296 million to $673.9 million. Despite their rapid expansion, euro stablecoins remained overshadowed by dollar-denominated stablecoins in the global market as of July 2026.
