Alibaba Cloud Plans AI Computing Price Increases of More Than 30% as Demand and Token Usage Surge
Alibaba Cloud, Alibaba's cloud computing platform, provides AI computing power, model inference and data storage services to businesses and developers. The rapid adoption of generative AI has driven up token usage, while rising costs for chips, servers and other hardware have tightened computing capacity. Service pricing has consequently become a key focus for the industry.
Alibaba Cloud said it would adjust prices for AI computing and storage services starting in April 2026, with increases of up to 34% for some offerings. It cited surging global AI demand and record growth in token usage. Alibaba's cloud business recently grew 36%, indicating that large-model applications are increasing both enterprise spending on computing power and the platform's operating costs.
