CME Gains XRP Futures Share as Token Rallies 40%
XRP, the digital asset associated with Ripple’s ecosystem, trades through derivatives venues spanning offshore exchanges and regulated US markets. CME’s XRP futures offer institutions and professional traders a compliance-focused route to gain exposure without holding the token directly. Changes in CME’s market share are therefore closely watched as a gauge of whether capital is migrating from offshore platforms toward regulated cryptocurrency derivatives.
XRP rebounded to about $1.40 after climbing 40% in one week, lifting CME’s share of XRP futures to 17% from 10%. Exposure through the regulated exchange rose roughly 36%, while open interest outside CME fell by more than 500 million XRP over two weeks. The divergence points to a pronounced shift toward CME-listed contracts as traders repositioned during the rally.

The history behind this eventXRP Futures Bets Hit October High Before CPI
The U.S. consumer price index, released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, is a key input for Federal Reserve policy expectations and often drives sharp repositioning across risk assets. XRP is particularly exposed ahead of the inflation report because its price is hovering near the psychologically important $1 level while traders build leveraged futures positions.
Open interest in XRP futures has climbed to 2.67 billion tokens, the highest level since October, signaling a rapid accumulation of bullish and bearish bets before the CPI release. A reading that departs from market forecasts could trigger liquidations on either side of the trade, leaving XRP at greater risk of short-term volatility than other major cryptocurrencies.
