Taiwan Financial Firms Raise NT$293.46 Billion in Eight Months
Taiwan’s banks, securities firms and life insurers use bond sales and cash capital increases to fund expansion, strengthen operating resources and manage their capital structures. Fundraising data compiled by the Financial Supervisory Commission offers a gauge of both financial-market conditions and the industry’s demand for capital, with issuance patterns showing how each sector responds to changing business opportunities and balance-sheet needs.
The three financial sectors raised a combined NT$293.46 billion through bond issuance and cash capital increases from January through August, up 20.61% from a year earlier, FSC data showed. Banks accounted for the largest amount. Buoyant equity-market activity prompted securities firms to issue more debt and equity to expand operations, lifting their fundraising to the highest level since 2023, while banks and life insurers relied mainly on bonds to bolster working capital and adjust their capital structures.

The history behind this eventTaiwan Brokerages, Banks Raise NT$221.7 Billion in First Half
A buoyant Taiwan stock market has fueled funding demand among securities firms, which are raising capital through share sales and bond issuance to strengthen working capital and expand margin-financing and securities-lending capacity tied to net-worth limits. Banks, by contrast, are primarily tapping markets to refinance maturing debt and adjust their capital structures as they manage regulatory capital-adequacy requirements overseen by the Financial Supervisory Commission.
Taiwanese brokerages and banks raised a combined NT$221.71 billion ($7.5 billion) in the first half of 2026 through June 30, including NT$39.31 billion from brokerage capital increases and bond sales. The FSC expects full-year brokerage fundraising to reach NT$80 billion and potentially challenge NT$100 billion. Across Taiwan’s securities, banking and insurance industries, total fundraising may surpass NT$400 billion for the year.
